Being an affiliate marketer, I'm completely 100% self employed. This is a great thing; I get to set my hours, travel when I want, work from where I want to, and I decide what I want to promote and how I want to promote it so it never gets dull; I'm my own boss. But having no one managing you can cause some issues, as well, because it's much easier to slack off if you aren't skilled at disciplining yourself.
I've had this problem myself, so I came up with the following 4 ways of how to increase productivity in yourself.
First, you have to find your work area. Some people work better in a quiet spot whereas others work better in a public setting. Free wifi is pretty easy to find in the major cities, but even if you're out in the suburbs, places like Starbucks now have free wifi standard. Experiment with some different settings and see which works best for you.
In the same vein, I absolutely always work better when my work area is clean and uncluttered. Not only is it easier to work when you can move around your area and easier to find what you are looking for, but it provides less distractions to steer your focus away from the task at hand. I'm a neat freak, so this is especially true for me, but I always find that I am much more productive when I have a clean work space.
Also, make sure that you use your breaks wisely. A lot of people work well with a work then break/reward system. I agree with this, but I recommend that you use your breaks wisely. Do something productive like exercising or eating a healthy snack. If you vegetate or overeat during your break, you'll likely find it difficult to get back into the working swing of things once that break is over.
Overeating for example makes you lackadaisical, so it's better to do something which will generate energy for you rather than saps it.
Finally, use a schedule system to plot out your day to a "T". Something which I like to do each night before I go to bed is writing out my schedule for the next day. I get very specific in this schedule, going hour by hour, plotting out what I'm going to do for the next day. This makes it very simple so that when I wake up the next morning, I don't waste any time and can launch right into my day without missing a beat during those early groggy hours.
But no, I'm not done yet. I've got THREE more effective tips which you can check out and use by clicking on this link for how to increase productivity.
