Build Your Fitness Business The Right Way

Build Your Fitness Business The Right Way
By Erik Rokeach

Building your fitness business the right way with save you a lot of time and money. A lot of fitness pros who decide to start their own business only know how to train, not to grow a business. So they open their facility or new location and sit there with absolutely no clients. The next step they take is what they think is the best way to bring in clients. They spend a ton of money on advertising. Using brochures, business cards, radio, TV, and newspaper to try and build their business. That will definitely bring in a few clients, but it will take them quite a bit of time to break even.

So how do you market the right way? Through leverage and education.

Here are two examples of fitness marketing techniques that really work by leveraging others.

1) Fundraisers - Here is a pretty simple way to get you and your fitness business in front of a lot of people. Find a charity in your local area and approach them. Tell them you want to help them raise money. For them to accept your idea you need to tell them what's in it for them. So you tell them that 100% of the money that is raised goes to the charity. Then you hold a fitness event for everyone who donates money.

Where this works for you is that you get to collect all of the leads that come in and donate money. You now have a list of people who get see your business, get to try your program, and see that you are doing good for the community. At the end of the event you want to have a special offer for anyone who has attended. Give them a free trial to your program so they can see what your all about. Since you also have their contact information you can follow up with them later.

2) Public Speaking - Where else can you get in front of a lot of people, not pay a dime, and look like an authority? This is a very easy way to bring attention to your fitness business. There are always organizations who are looking for speakers. Contact your local Lions Club, Rotary, volunteer organizations, or anywhere that a group of people meet. Have a presentation ready so you can wow your audience. Then at the end offer a free trial to your program.

To take your marketing techniques to the next level and rapidly grow your business you must invest in your education.

The two examples above should cost you very little money if not nothing at all. The mistake many fitness pro's make is spending money on new certifications. Certifications do not build your business. Marketing does. So spend your money on learning from the people who are the most successful.

Do a search online for fitness marketing and see what comes up. Look for websites and blogs and top fitness business owners and begin reading their material. Next buy a few of their products. Now you may think that your business is new and you don't have the money to buy the products right now. But you have to begin to think that purchasing those products and taking action on what they teach you will bring in a flood of new business for you. Thus paying for what you purchased.

As you begin to learn from the successful fitness pros, you begin to try new fitness marketing techniques, and discover how to leverage these strategies to find more clients.

As your business grows then you can begin to look into more main stream marketing methods such as radio, television, and newspapers. But why not save money from the beginning and do it right? Look to invest in your education, and use leverage of others to grow your fitness business.
